The foundation of my work can be traced back to my grandparents, the unconditional love I received from them, and the grief I experienced after losing them. My work is a reflection on how I make sense of grief and the inevitable cycle of life, specifically centering on the aging and reversion of the body and mind.
Return to Innocence is a compilation of the fleeting moments we tend to overlook in our day-to-day lives. Taking time to slow down and admire the cycle of life can be an extremely fulfilling experience. It is both beautiful and heartbreaking: the inevitability that we return to an innocent and dependent version of who we once were. The love I received from my grandparents is present in each artwork that I create. My paintings reflect the small moments that overlap between generations, guiding viewers to understand the fragile existence of the cycle of life.
